Reinvest your Tax Refund & support 2-1-1

What 2-1-1 does:

• 2-1-1 is an easy-to-remember phone number that connects callers to information about critical health and human services available in their community.

• You can also text your need to 898-211.

• Over the past 4 years, more than 700,000 people turned to Louisiana 2-1-1 to seek assistance to find help.

• Dialing 2-1-1 is an easy way to find help or give help.

• Citizens can access 2-1-1 24 hours a day, seven days a week, even during disasters.
• Every day, someone, somewhere in Louisiana contacts 2-1-1 to find help.  Callers are looking for resources like clothing, food or programs for their families.  Louisiana 2-1-1 listens to their needs and provides available resources.
• This tax season, consider reinvesting your Louisiana state tax refund by donating a portion of it to Louisiana 2-1-1.
• Your state tax donations help ensure that Louisiana 2-1-1 remains an active resource for Louisiana citizens

About these donations:
Funds have been used to sustain the Louisiana 2-1-1 website, support disaster preparations, pay for statewide georouting services, implement the iCarol database system, onboard onto the national texting platform and advance telephony. A portion of funds has been allocated directly to the 2-1-1 providers to be used as needed for operations.

LAUW receives these designated donations from tax payers to support Louisiana 2-1-1. The receipt and use of these designations are reported quarterly to the Louisiana 2-1-1 Coordinating Council. These donations are needed to build the capacity and advance Louisiana 2-1-1. 

Reinvesting your refund has never been easier:

1. When filing a Louisiana Income Tax Return (electronically or by hand), you can designate to the Louisiana Association of United Ways/LA 2-1-1 on Schedule D.
2. OR  Inform your tax preparer that you wish to give part of your tax return to the Louisiana Association of United Ways/LA 2-1-1 when filing your Louisiana State Income Tax Return.
