United Way of Southwest Louisiana’s Response Fund Receives $40,000 Donation
LAKE CHARLES, LA, May 15 – United Way of Southwest Louisiana is the nonprofit chosen by Bechtel Group Foundation to receive a $40,000 gift for the Coronavirus Response Fund. This gift is a collaboration between Bechtel and the global crowdfunding nonprofit, GlobalGiving. United Way of Southwest Louisiana was the nonprofit chosen for the state of Louisiana with a recommendation from Bechtel’s Sabine Pass LNG project in Cameron Parish.
“In times like these, our commitment to supporting the communities where we live and operate, in particular local organizations and charities, is stronger than ever,” said Maurissa Douglas Rogers, Bechtel’s Senior Project Manager for the Sabine Pass Liquefaction project. “We nominated UWSWLA for this special gift because of the organization’s effectiveness in ensuring that the basic necessities of life, such as food, clothing, and shelter, are available for those in need.”
“We cannot thank Bechtel and the employees at the Sabine Pass LNG project enough for recognizing our community with this gift,” says Denise Durel, President/CEO for United Way of Southwest Louisiana. “We are actively assisting community members with the basic needs we all take for granted each day. These are hard workers who found themselves suddenly out of a job and thanks to this gift we can relieve some of their anxiety.”
