United Way of Southwest Louisiana Responding to Community Members with Flooded Homes and Collapsed Roofs

LAKE CHARLES, LA, May 21 – United Way of Southwest Louisiana is relaunching the Disaster Fund in response to the sudden flooding from current weather patterns. To give, text DISASTERFUND to 41444 or online at unitedwayswla.org/donate.

“We immediately began receiving calls to 211 requesting assistance due to flooding,” explains Denise Durel, President and CEO of United Way of Southwest Louisiana. “Our team is actively monitoring weather 24/7 and we knew this would be bad for families with homes that have not been fully repaired. While we always dread this, we are always prepared to respond and just want the community to know we will get through this. We are definitely united in our mission to get everyone here back on their feet.”

United Way of Southwest Louisiana’s 211 resource line is managing calls for assistance and is open 24/7/365. If you are in need of assistance, dial 211 or text 898-211. Callers will be assisted with available resources.
