LAKE CHARLES, La. – United Way of Southwest Louisiana is set to start another season of campaigning this month. The 2013 Campaign Kick-Off is Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 7:30 a.m. in the Buccaneer Room of the Lake Charles Civic Center.
The event will be a celebration of a new year of giving back to the community and will serve as the platform for announcing this year’s fundraising goal, the Campaign Cabinet, and Pacesetter and Corporate Cornerstone companies.
"Be a United Way Superhero” is the theme for this year’s campaign, which focuses on individuals, groups and companies making a "super” impact on the community.
"Working with United Way allows people the opportunity to be a superhero every day,” says Denise Durel, President and CEO of United Way of SWLA. "Joining us does not require superhuman effort, because any amount of time or money will help us with our mission to boost education, fight poverty, promote health and lend a helping hand to those in need.”
For more than 73 years, United Way of Southwest Louisiana has helped to build a strong community through partnerships between those who can give and those who are in need. Campaign season is a time when United Way of SWLA reaches out to its five-parish area to raise funds that will support its 34 local agencies.
To RSVP for the event, call 337-433-1088 or email email@example.com. Breakfast will be served.
