We tackle the issues that keep 20% of Southwest Louisiana's community members entrenched in poverty. We empower each other to leverage our passions, ideas, expertise and resources to transform the very conditions in which people live. By investing in local solutions and advocating for change, we're able to positively impact our hometown while also being part of the bigger picture and broader cause.
WE BELIEVE IN EDUCATING OUR YOUNGEST!
Studies show that the foundation for learning and development is laid before a child reaches kindergarten. Early learners who attend high-quality, publicly subsidized programs perform better in school. With over 40% of Lousiana children beginning kindergarten behind their peers, Women United Southwest Louisiana is advocating for an investment by the state in Child Care Assistance. Read our Op-Ed and if you believe every boy or girl in this state, regardless of income, should have the proper foundation for a chance at a bright future, contact your legislators.
Women United's high impact members support United Way of Southwest Louisiana annually at a leadership level and are focused on the issues surrounding poverty.
