City of Lake Charles Mayor Nic Hunter is issuing a challenge to local grocery stores, food distribution companies, casinos and other businesses or individuals to each sponsor ten families ($250) for the 2024 holiday season. This will ensure a frozen turkey for each family as part of his Mayor's Turkey Challenge.

United Way of Southwest Louisiana will distribute frozen turkeys during the 2024 holiday season through local partner agencies to families in need.
