Lake Charles, LA— United Way Southwest Louisiana is turning up the heat once again as planning begins for the 6th Annual Battle for the Paddle, set for Thursday, March 11, 2027, at the Lake Charles Event Center. Following a record-setting 2026 event featuring 30 cooking teams, organizers are inviting businesses, organizations, and community groups to join an even bigger celebration in 2027.

Team registration and sponsorship opportunities are now officially open.

Battle for the Paddle brings together the best of Southwest Louisiana—great food, friendly competition, live entertainment, and a community united for a great cause. Cooking teams will compete for top honors in jambalaya and pastalaya while attendees enjoy unlimited food samples, vote for the People's Choice Award, and experience an evening filled with Louisiana flavor and community spirit.

Building on last year's success, the 2027 event will feature exciting new additions designed to create an even more interactive and memorable experience for teams, sponsors, and attendees. While some surprises are still under wraps, guests can expect new activities, enhanced experiences, and even more reasons to make Battle for the Paddle one of the must-attend community events of the spring.

"Each year, Battle for the Paddle continues to grow, and we're excited to build on that momentum in 2027," said Denise Durel, President & CEO of United Way Southwest Louisiana. "The support from our cooking teams, sponsors, volunteers, and community has been incredible, and we're looking forward to creating an even bigger and better event while raising critical funds to support the work of United Way across Southwest Louisiana."

Businesses, civic organizations, nonprofits, schools, and community groups are encouraged to register a cooking team and compete for awards, bragging rights, and the coveted People's Choice Award. Sponsorship opportunities are also available, providing businesses with meaningful community visibility while directly supporting United Way Southwest Louisiana's mission to improve lives throughout Allen, Beauregard, Calcasieu, Cameron, and Jefferson Davis Parishes.

Whether you're entering a team, becoming a sponsor, or planning to attend, Battle for the Paddle offers an opportunity to enjoy outstanding food, connect with the community, and support programs that make a lasting impact across Southwest Louisiana.

Additional event announcements—including entertainment, ticket information, and new event features—will be released in the coming months.
