United Way Southwest Louisiana is excited to announce the 2nd Annual Dolly Run, returning Saturday, April 18, 2026, at United Way Southwest Louisiana’s downtown office at 815 Ryan Street. This uniquely spirited 5K/1-mile fun run and Dolly Stroll costume contest brings together families, supporters, and Dolly Parton fans—all in support of early childhood literacy through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, one of United Way’s signature Youth Opportunity Initiatives.
“The Dolly Run is joyful, colorful, and pure Southwest Louisiana fun—but at its core, it’s about getting books into the hands of young children,” said Denise Durel, President & CEO of United Way Southwest Louisiana. “Every wig, sequin, and step taken helps fuel our mission to ensure children across our region have the tools to thrive before they ever step foot into a classroom.”
A Run for Every Pace—and Every Wig
The Dolly Run welcomes participants of all ages and celebrates creativity and community spirit through:
5K Run/Walk
1-Mile Fun Walk
The Dolly Stroll – a vibrant costume contest celebrating all things Dolly: big hair, rhinestones, denim, and imaginative flair.
Local judges will award prizes for Most Creative, Best Group Costume, and Mini-Dolly.
Seeking Sponsors & Community Partners
United Way Southwest Louisiana is actively seeking event sponsors, corporate partners, and community organizations to help expand the impact of this literacy-focused community celebration. Sponsorships directly support Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, which delivers a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book each month to more than 3,820 children across Southwest Louisiana.
